Giagia Marika! ..
A giving woman of tremendous value and always family orientated.
She is the link between the past and the present, always keeping up with
tradition but with her own dose of differentiation, and when all
grandmothers made sour cherry juice she made lemonade!
Giagia Marika from Samos was born in 1927, she kept and maintained her
traditions, but always added her own secret ingredient…
Giagia Marika wasn’t a random grandmother, she picked fresh lemons at a
particular time of year fresh from her garden, always ripe, spending endless
hours squeezing the lemons and always with love.
Her adorable fans and admirers have always been the children of the
neighborhood who would flock to her backyard, and with a tender embrace
ask her for her special lemonade.
She always welcomed everyone. Wonderful, innocent years .. Giagia Marika grew up in a time of poverty, full of purity and worth. She knew how to
enjoy each moment even with just small delights, by example treating her
neighborhood with fresh juices from seasonal fruit that she always had on
hand.
All of the above inspired her grandchildren, Konstantinos, Zafiris and Giorgos, to keep her secret recipe, but along the way, they decided to share it
with the rest of the world, so that everyone could enjoy their Giagia’s traditional recipe. Reliving old memories with the old and giving new memories
to the young.
Giagia Marika is now 96 years young and lives in Karlovassi, Samos enjoying beautiful and happy moments with her beloved children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
